Student Services Coordinator

To get started as a student, call our Student Services Coordinator, Liis Nigol, at 934-7922, or email lnigol@saco.org and make an appointment for a skills assessment intake interview before you register. During this intake interview, our Student Services Coordinator will review your past educational endeavors and help you identify your educational goals. Bring your social security number and any documentation from previous schooling or testing (including transcripts). This helps us to determine your available credits and assess your needs quickly. Credits from your previous high school count toward an Old Orchard Beach/Saco Adult Education diploma. We evaluate your high school transcript and list what you need in order to complete our graduation requirements.
There is no intake appointment needed to register for Computer, Medical, College Readiness, Career Exploration or Enrichment classes.

Our Student Services Coordinator is available for free individual appointments and can also help you:
• Write a resume
• Conduct an Internet career/job search
• Prepare for an interview
• Prepare an application for college
• Take a career interest inventory

How do I refer a client to Adult Education?

We get many referrals from agencies that have clients who want to finish high school, prepare for enrollment in college, or just work on skills to help them in their daily lives.

  • Before sending a client to us, take a look at the programs & classes we offer to get an idea of the costs involved.
  • The Caseworker or student calls for a free intake appointment with our Student Services Coordinator. Please call 934-7922, and we will be glad to assist with this.
  • Once we finish the intake, we fax a "Request for Authorization of Payment" form along with the student's new registration, which lists the costs and classes the student has registered for, to the sending agency for acceptance.
  • The agency then sends an "Authorization Letter" back to our Adult Education staff in order to 'Accept' the financial responsibility of the student's choices outlined in the 'Authorization Letter'. If the Agency accepts, the student is on their way toward reaching their goals. Its that simple!
